What does it mean to be confident? What does it look like? How can you become more confident in yourself? These are all questions that we’ve asked ourselves at one point or another, especially when we’re looking to achieve something big and amazing in our lives. The answers to these questions can be found by learning how to radiate confidence. So what exactly does it mean to radiate confidence? And how can you do so? Let’s take a look at the steps required!
Own it when you succeed
When you do something great, it’s okay to feel proud and confident. In fact, it’s encouraged! Success is a great confidence booster, so don’t be afraid to let yourself bask in the glory of a job well done. But don’t get too cocky—remember that there’s always room for improvement. If you’re feeling down on yourself, try these five steps to boost your self-esteem.
Never check your reflection
Checking your reflection can give you a false sense of how you look to others and make you more self-conscious. If you must check, do it quickly and move on. Focus on your posture (two sentences): Try to stand or sit up straight with your shoulders back. This will make you appear more confident and in control. Make eye contact (three sentences): Meeting someone’s gaze shows that you’re confident and not afraid to show who you are. It also helps build trust.
No comparison to others
When you compare yourself to others, it’s easy to feel like you’re falling short. After all, there will always be someone who is smarter, prettier, or more successful than you. But comparing yourself to others is a recipe for disaster. Not only will it make you feel bad about yourself, but it will also prevent you from taking risks and pursuing your dreams. So instead of comparing yourself to others, focus on being the best version of yourself.
Pat yourself on the back (out loud!)
You did it! You finally got the job/promotion/grade you’ve been wanting. It’s time for a victory dance and some serious self-congratulation. Take a moment to appreciate all of your hard work—it’s paid off! Remind yourself that you are capable and deserving of good things. Now, let’s get out there and show the world what you’re made of!
Don’t be afraid of making mistakes
One of the things that holds people back from being confident is the fear of making mistakes. But the truth is, everyone makes mistakes – even confident people. The key is to not let your mistakes define you. Instead, learn from them and move on. Don’t forget that they are often a great way to grow as a person. It takes courage to put yourself out there and be vulnerable; be proud of what you do have instead of dwelling on what you don’t have. Don’t be afraid to make bold decisions or stand up for yourself. No one can take away your confidence if it doesn’t come from within. You can fake it until you make it!
Smile
If you want to be confident, the first step is to get rid of the toxic people in your life. These are the people who bring you down, make you feel bad about yourself, and generally make you feel like crap. You don’t need that in your life! Find some new friends or, better yet, find a group of like-minded people who will support you and help you grow.
Dress for success (take notes from supermodels!)
When you look good, you feel good–and that confidence will show. That’s why it’s important to take the time to put together a wardrobe that makes you feel your best. And don’t be afraid to take style cues from the world’s most confident women: supermodels. They know a thing or two about how to put together an outfit that radiates confidence.
Get rid of toxic people around you
You can’t be confident if you’re constantly surrounded by negativity. So, the first step is to get rid of anyone who brings you down, makes you feel small, or makes you doubt yourself. This might mean distancing yourself from friends or family members who are always putting you down, or it might mean breaking up with a partner who is abusive. You deserve to be around people who make you feel good about yourself!
